One busy weekend!

We got carpet in the basement! We already have it covered with junk that we need to go through, but at least it's in!!!! We have been so excited about getting carpet in there. Now all we need is to put up our trim. One step at a time, right?

On Saturday we went to stay the night at my sister's house, where the kids played and we just got to relax.
The next day, my gorgeous little neice was blessed. She is sooooo cute! And it was fun to have an excuse to see alot of the family.

Then, we got a little surprise visit later that night from Zac's parents. It was nice to visit for an hour or so and Owen had fun playing with Grandma and Grandpa Cook.
This was a very busy weekend, but it was so fun and it was nice to do something a little different and just get out.

One big project!

So I would like to welcome you to the project that has been our basement...

As you can see, we have been very organized while working downstairs. We actually forgot to move a lot of things while Zac was sanding and so I have a lot of dusting to do when we get to that point.

First, we worked on the downstairs bedroom...this included tearing out a wall, re-framing, adding outlets, texturing, painting and hopefully soon carpet. Then, we will have a nice guest room for family and friends when they come to visit.

Believe it or not, this is the same room. This was right after we painted. We still have yet to schedule our carpet to go in, but we are getting closer.
The next room we have been working on is the main basement room. This room never had paint, and was origionally used as a large pantry. We thought we would use it as a nice downstairs living room. (Plus it's an extra room for visitors if we have a family get together or something).

These two pictures (above) were taken right after we did texture in that room. I have an amazing husband that I think did a great job texturing. I really like the way it turned out.

Next, we worked on the hallway. This included taking out multiple doors and replacing them, texture and paint and then laminate, which you can see below.

The final step is carpet, which goes in this week! I am so excited to be able to use the basement again. I am going through every box and paper in my house and de-junking. I will post more pictures when we are all done. What a project!!!!

Boys are the best!

Sometimes all I need is a good laugh! I love these two!!! They have so much fun together and I love being a part of it.
Owen and Daddy looking for a toy that Owen dropped. That boy has no fear, he nearly went head first and thus, why Zac is ready to catch him. :)
Owen got a glimpse of himself in the mirror and just laughed. It was very entertaining!!!!

If you can't tell-Owen is smiling! We could hardly keep him still enough to drink his milk.

What a goof!
I think it's funny that there is a baby on tv too!

An eventful visit

We had my neice and nephew come for a visit this week. It was fun to see how much they've grown up. We had a very eventful couple of days. We went to McDonalds for lunch and played on the toys, blew bubbles, made pancakes and watched a movie and then the next day we went to my sister's house and had fun with all the kids together.

Aubrey getting ready to eat. We made chocolate chip pancakes and the kids were excited about helping make it and stirring.
Then we went out and blew bubbles. You can tell Zac had fun getting out and playing too. They really had a good time with Zac.

The kids were so cute cuddled up and ready to smile for the camera!

We had a good time, but I have to admit that I am ready for a slower couple of days.

My favorite New Year's Resolution

I decided that I would try 1 new recipe every week. I kindof get into a groove with recipes that I'm familiar with and I felt like it was getting boring and so I really like this experiment. I get up my courage and try something new and then I add it to the recipes I like (if it goes well), and then I have a few more to rotate.

I have a ton of cookbooks and I felt like they were just taking up space and so it is a good way to make better use of the cookbooks I already have. (Plus a couple from these awesome cookbooks I get from the library every once and awhile). I think I'm going to keep this resolution going.
